Cook-Off Participation
- All cook sites must be under cover and not exceed 12' × 12'. Have at least one table.
- Have a method to keep ingredients cold until used in preparation.
- Have a means to wash your hands.
Participants
Check In
On-site check in will be from 8:30 am to 9:00 am on Saturday, September 17, 2011.
Teams & Divisions
Up to four (4) team members may register to be in a cook site. Teams fall under one of two divisions:
- Business Division
- Individuals & Non-Profit Organizations Division
Bean Soup
- Must provide 3 gallons (about 11 liters) of Bean Soup. Must be prepared from scratch on site the day of the event. Any soup or chili with beans as an ingredient. Ingredients may be prepared (diced/chopped), ready to cook.
- Bean Soup samples for judging will be collected by a committee member at 12:30 pm on Saturday, September 17, 2011. Soup samples should not be garnished.
- Patron samples – containers will be provided for serving your samples to the attendees. These samples may be garnished as desired.
- A team of local judges will be used to judge the entries. In addition, there will be People's Choice judging (monetary contributions).
- Propane is the only acceptable fuel for cooking (outdoor turkey fry pots work very well).
Awards
Business Division
The winner of this division will be awarded the "Spill the Beans" Traveling Trophy to display until next year’s event. This trophy will be replaced by a smaller trophy/plaque at the event the following year.
Individuals & Non-Profit Organizations Division
The top three (3) teams in this division will receive cash prizes of:

| 3rd place | $100 |
People's Choice Award
All participants qualify for the People's Choice Award. Winner will be the participant receiving the most votes from the event attendees. Details on voting procedures will be available at the event.
Proceeds will be split with half going to the winner and half to the event to be distributed to the benefiting charitable organizations.
Best Booth Award
Cook sites may be decorated. Decorated cooksites will be judged for a separate prize of $100 to the best booth depicting the theme of your soup. Businesses may use their site to advertise their business.
